I'd like to make this pie for my sister's birthday party, but it is not for a couple of weeks. Can I make and freeze this pie? If so, how long will it be good in the freezer?

Strawberries are larger than when I was a kid too; but they are not as tasty. The smaller strawberries had much more flavor than these big ones. 5/28/12

Will do, but like you I think I'll stick with halving them. Your berries seem to be large too so I think it worked well. I don't ever remember strawberries being this size when I was a kid. lol If they continue to develop new breeds, these things will soon be the size of oranges and then we'll have to cut them in eighths or tenths.

As long as they fit in the shell and don't fall out onto the floor...then we're good! lol

They look like big blueberries to me....LOL
I knew that they were not on the pie....

No, I have never tried that "goo" that they sell in the produce section of the supermarket. I'm sure it would never be as good as the homemade version. Thanks for the warning that they are "ICK". Now that I've made this version I wouldn't even want to try the one you buy at the grocery store.

If you make this pie again and decide to use the WHOLE berries instead of cutting them in half, let me know what you think. I would cut mine in half again. I was concerned that when I moved the pie from the table to the refrigerator I was going to have the top berries roll onto the floor. At least if they are flat on one side I had a better chance of getting it to the frig in one piece. LOL 5/28/12

I just realized that the avocados in the background look like they are floating on top of the pie. LOL Oh well, I usually add a disclaimer on all of my photos!

Rose, I thought the same thing. lol I wanted the berries to "fit better". I realize now I probably could have just dumped them in there whole and it would have looked (and surely tasted) just as good!

Thanks. :-) Looking at all of our photos and I'm wondering how many miles of strawberries are represented. Seriously though, it seems you can't go wrong with this recipe. Have you ever tried the tubs of strawberry "goo" in the produce section near the berries?

Ick.

I cut my strawberries in half too. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to mix them well with the glaze if I kept them whole and I wasn't sure that WHOLE would work well. I am glad that I cut mine in half and would do it again. Your pie LOOKS GREAT!!!

Yes, deep dish glass pie pan. I think the strawberries are lying flat because I cut them in half. Some of them were ginormous!

Oh Sea that looks so beautiful. Can't tell where strawberries are missing. Looks pretty high to me...
Did you make yours in a 9" pie shell? 5/28/12
